BOTRIVIER SKILLS ACADEMY

Botrivier
School of Skills

Our
OOCOF Story

Overberg Our Community Our Future (OOCOF) is a Community-Based Non-Profit Organisation established in 2023 in Botrivier, Western Cape. Formed by concerned residents from diverse professional backgrounds, OOCOF aims to address the urgent challenges of youth unemployment, school dropouts, and social disconnection in rural communities.

OOCOF is driven by the vision of restoring hope, dignity, and opportunity. United by a shared belief in the power of education and skills development, OOCOF is working to create real, lasting change
for the youth of Botrivier and the Overberg Region.

Our Mission & Vision

Mission

To provide inclusive, high-quality education and skills training that empower youth to become self-reliant, skilled, and employable contributors to their communities and the wider region.

Vision

To create a sustainable model of education and community development in the Overberg — where every young person has access to opportunity, and where Botrivier becomes a beacon of empowerment, innovation, and hope.

Our Project

Building a better future through nurturing and education

The village of Botrivier rests in the heart of the Overberg district of the Western Cape (South Africa). It is centrally located among the surrounding towns of Grabouw, Caledon, Kleinmond, Hawston, Lebanon, Greyton, Genadendal, Vyeboom, Villiersdorp, and Knoflokskraal - all within a 40km radius - making Botrivier the ideal location for the introduction of an independent skills- focussed school.

In the absence of any secondary school within Botriver, a skills secondary school will restore dignity, provide hope, and prepare rural youth with the knowledge, creativity, and practical skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world. Greater populations of skills-trained learner graduates will fill a critical gap and contribute to an increase in the skilled worker base in the Overberg, as well as grow the population of entrepreneurs. Graduates will be employment-ready, fit for a purposeful life of income generation, effectively stabilising households year-on-year. It will also present a golden opportunity for providing families with the opportunity to prosper and thrive.
